What's that sound?

Hellooooo!

It's back to school time, and my ears are exploding from the sound of writers all over the world, popping the corks on their champagne/sparkling grape juice bottles. I love my kiddo more than anything in this world, but I gotta say, it's been one looooong summer.

http://surfacetoair.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Champagne-Cork-Popping.jpgI don't know about the rest of you guys, but I did very little writing or blogging while the fruit of my womb was home. At my house, even though I only have one kid, there's usually a few running around, during the summer. That's because my child thinks everyday should be a party, so I borrow lots of kids while school's out.

I've spent the last few months as a short order cook, maker of slushies, slime/play dough wizard, alien hunter, cookie crumb cleaner, bug bite doctor,  taxi driver, and late night Nintendo buddy to Letty and friends. It's been a ton of fun, but now I'm ready to write.

Now that you guys know why I've been a lazy blogger, let's all join in the cork popping fun and make a toast to extra writing time. YIPPEEEEEE!!!! It's on now, folks. There will be furious fingers racing across the keyboard around here!

All right, I'm out! Until next time, happy writing or whatever makes you smile. :)

  1. What's that sound, you ask? It's me, sitting at my computer, having a good late-afternoon chuckle...

Oh, and you've been nominated for a blog award. :D

  4. Ha! One day, you'll be singing the same tune. Just wait until you have a munchkin running around.

  5. Shoot, I have adult children. I shouldn't have this problem, but I struggled to find the uninterrupted time to write too. Unfortunately not all the offspring are heading back to school. I may have to put up imaginary walls and set some boundaries! ;)

  6. School starts, and suddenly I'm swamped with syllabi, lecture notes and well, you know, the teaching thing. I'm glad you had a great time during summer: I did too. We get these amazing electrical storms in ABQ. Unfortunately, electrical storms don't really get along with computers :(

Have fun getting back into the writing groove.

    1. Hey, Rena! I had no idea you're a teacher! That's awesome! Electrical storms are pretty, but you're so right about them and computers!
